Travis "Virgo the Poet" Hailes is a native of Portsmouth, VA.  He attended High School in Richmond, VA and would become a three sport Hall Of Famer.  He holds a BS in Therapeutic Recreation from Hampton University where he played on a football scholarship.  He grew up in the custody of the state of Virginia, as a "child of the ward" and says that sports was how he let off his aggression and writing was how he expressed his feelings.  His troubled upbringing could have easily turned him bitter which is why it is amazing how he has grown to be an activist for positive change, a mentor, and a warrior of peace.

With over 20 years of writing under his belt, Travis has honed in on his writing and performing style which shows in his delivery. 

Currently he works in the corporate world for a non for profit company and when he is not writing or performing his poetry he is coaching kids on the fundamentals in sports like football, basketball, and track and field. 

He is a first time published author of a poetry book titled  "Pieces of Me: Poetry in Motion" which is the first book of a 4 book series titled "Pieces of Me". Travis declares that he gives the reader a piece of himself in every poem of every book.
